Conrad Murray's Manchester music scene
by Conrad Murray12/ 5/2005
IT'S another bumper month for new bands with a load of new
releases coming out of the city.
Tuneful tough-types
Young Offenders Institute
release their debut single, We're The Young Offenders via F4
Records on May 30. The brilliant second single from
The
Longcut, A Quiet Life, hits the streets on the same
day.
On May 23
Nine Black Alps release their third
single Not Everyone and you can catch them live at
Manchester Academy on May 9. Then, the lads who
brought Nine Black Alps to the nation's attention, Akoustik
Anarkhy, bring you the awe inspiring new single from young guitar
heroes
Autokat; The
Driver/Television is a double-edged musical
delight and is out May 16. You can experience Autokat live at
another, no doubt seminal,
Akoustik Anarkhy
evening on May 14 at
Manchester's Gardens Hotel,
they'll be joined by South Manchester's equally ace
Working
For A Nuclear Free City.
Chorlton Irish Centre hosts the best singer
songwriter to come out of the city in a long time when
Liam
Frost performs on May 14 for Club Blowout.
If you're after more acoustic excellence, you should check out the
new weekly acoustic night at
Rampant Lion in Victoria
Park. Every Thursday, they'll be featuring acts such as
Beats For Beginners and
Nathan
Burton with guest appearances from the likes of
Badly Drawn Boy,
Elbow and
Super Furry Animals also scheduled in.
Then, end the month in style, when
Omerta,
The VCs,
Former Bullies,
Knights and
Liam Frost all play
at the
High Voltage All Dayer at
Night and
Day on Sunday May 29.
