A bit about ... Chris Simms

23/ 6/2005

CHRIS Simms is the author of Killing the Beasts, a thrilled set ion Manchester during the Commonwealth Games. It is described as a "vivid portrayal of the crimes that lurk between the bright lights of a vibrant city". The psychological thriller - launched this week - is Simms' third book.

The first thing I do when I wake up is ... check the alarm in the forlorn hope it has gone off early.
Ideally I would spend every day ... lounging around by the side of a lazy river.
If money was no object I would ... take more holidays.
The greatest gift I have ever received was ... my eagle eye Action Man.
My one piece of advice would be ... nothing worthwhile is ever achieved easily.
My first job was ... my worst. Working in a battery farm. I only lasted until lunch.
I'm scared of ... spiders.
I'm excited by ... other people's enthusiasm.
If I could go back in time and do one thing again it would be ... to have held my tongue more often.
I love ... Asian food.
I hate ... inconsiderate behaviour.
I want ... an instant hangover cure.
You have to read ... Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy.
Everyone should listen to ... The Bends by Radiohead.
You must watch ... Don't Look Now.
If I could be anyone else I would be ... Superman, purely for the flying.
My ultimate ambition would be ... to help create a film of one of my novels.
My biggest inspiration has been ... Iain Banks.
The first time I fell in love ... I was about 15.
I think God is ... a fascinating concept.
I think the death penalty is ... impossible to generalise about.
My epitaph would be ... I told you I was ill (To blag Spike Milligan).
Fur or faux? Faux if I had to.
Mayonnaise or salad cream? Mayonnaise.
Eastenders or Coronation Street? Am I allowed neither?
Daily Mail or Guardian? Guardian.
Harry or William? Harry!
United or City? City, of course.
Chav or scally? Scally.
