Manchester's next musical generation

FORMER Hacienda DJ Dave Haslam has given his backing to some of south Manchester’s most impressive raw music talent.
The West Didsbury-based king of music who is a DJ on Manchester’s Xfm radio station is a well-known supporter of emerging talent within the industry. Most recently Haslam was spotted at Parrs Wood High School acting as guest judge for the school’s Battle of the Bands competition.
Haslam said: "I am a big believer in supporting kids with creativity. To all of the bands in south Manchester trying to crack into the music scene, I think you’re doing a great job.
"These kids have such bottle and confidence, I don’t think I could have done any of what they’re doing when I was their ages."
As well as putting in an appearance at Parrs Wood High School, Haslam has been scouting out local talent as part of his role at Xfm in a Manchester-wide competition to find the best bands within local schools.
