Dominic and Julie were stunned by strange lights in the night sky
An alien encounter?
17/ 7/2008
ARE we alone? That was the question Dominic and Julie Ryder were left asking themselves after they saw a series of mystery objects flying across the night sky.
Dominic, 44, captured around ten UFOs above their Northenden home on the family video camera.
The stunning footage shows a number of bright lights quickly moving in formation across the sky at around 10.40pm on Saturday, July 12.
Unidentified Flying Objects were also captured on film at around the same time by another amateur cameraman at an unspecified location in Manchester.
They have since been posted on Youtube and have received around 1,000 hits, some from people who also claim to have spotted UFOs at around the same time.
See Dominic and Julie's footage below ...
Julie, 44, who runs a mobile hairdressing business, said: "I am so glad someone else has captured this otherwise I’d have thought I was going nuts.
"It was incredible. They were moving in a co-ordinated fashion, I just can’t explain what I saw.
"It certainly wasn’t a conventional aircraft. I’ve lived here for 30 years and never seen anything like it before.
"I’ve been watching the sky ever since."
Julie, who lives with husband Dominic and sons, Jack, six, and Michael, near Princess Parkway, returned from visiting relatives on Saturday night to find neighbour Jonathan Wall standing in his driveway urging her to look up at the sky.
She ran inside to wake up husband Dominic and to grab the family’s video camera. To add to poor Dominic’s confusion he had fallen asleep on the settee watching the Saturday night film Alien: Resurrection.
Dominic, who co-owns the Northenden camping and outdoor equipment store Camperlands, said he couldn’t believe his eyes.
He said: "I’ve never seen anything like it before. "There were all these bright lights about 400 feet up in the air travelling in a westerly direction.
"I reckon they must have been moving at around 80 miles an hour.
"They were about 200 meters apart and seemed to be moving in formation.
"They were well under the clouds and making no noise at all.
"I am a paraglider so I am quite good at estimating these things.
"It is so hard to explain. It was like spotlights moving across the clouds but the light was so sharp it couldn’t possibly have come from the ground."
The two minute Youtube video shows three UFO travelling across the sky.
The poster, who goes by the name of Perrenecho, wrote: "I was coming back from my friend Andy’s house, and saw these strange lights.
"Having heard stories about red lights in the sky a few weeks before I ran inside and grabbed my camera.
"I was in my front garden, there were a number off these lights moving across the sky I’d say about 10 to 15 at least."
