Janet quits her 20-a-day habit
28/ 6/2007
FORMER smoker Janet Copley, from Chorlton, has managed to kick her 20-a-day habit following a course of complementary treatment at Manchester's Christie Hospital.
The 45-year-old, of Barlow Terrace, had smoked for 28 years - but became determined to give up smoking after developing breast cancer in 2005.
However, it was not until she underwent several courses of acupuncture, reflexology and hypnotherapy in the Complimentary Therapy department at Christie's that she found a treatment that suited her and she was finally able to stop smoking.
Janet said: "I found acupuncture that worked best for me and it came as an enormous relief to stop smoking for good.
"I had to have a lump removed from my breast and that is obviously something that makes you take stock of your life and I decided then that smoking had to go.
"I can't praise Christie's enough for all the treatment I've received here and the complimentary therapy department is undoubtedly the reason why I've kicked the habit today."
Christie's Peter MacKereth said: "We sometimes use nicotine replacement therapies in conjunction with acupuncture, reflexology and hypnotherapy and we've found these to be highly effective."
