Man shot 5 times in street - just another Friday then

A MAN was shot five times on a street in Levenshulme ... but neighbours hardened by years of gun crime said the incident was nothing out of the ordinary.
Police said a 40-year-old man from Stockport was coming out of a house on Randolph Street with another man, aged 20, when a number of gunshots were fired at him by two masked men.
The older man was shot five times in his upper body but his condition is described as stable. The other man was uninjured.
None of the people the Reporter spoke to wanted to give their names for fear of any reprisals.
One woman said: "It's almost normal - it's not out of the ordinary anymore. It seems to happen all the time. I worry for my seven-year-old boy. He was sleeping at the time but the commotion gave him nightmares."
Customers in the local laundrette said the shootings were upsetting but not shocking. A pensioner there said: "We don't bother anymore there's that many these days - and they're all drug related."
And another woman in the street added: "I heard about eight shots at around 2am and when I looked out I could see the guy lying in the street. I telephoned for an ambulance and the next minute there were lots of police with shields and guns."
Police in south Manchester are appealing for the public's help in connection with shooting which took place at around 2.25am on Friday, June 13.
The victim is currently receiving treatment for his five gunshot wounds and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
A police spokesperson said: "At the moment there is nothing to suggest that it is drug related, but we are approaching it with an open mind. The victim had minor surgery over the weekend and he is now recovering in hospital and is said to be stable."
Officers are keen to speak with anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious.
