Get ready to party!

23/ 6/2005

SOUTH Manchester is set for double festival fun this weekend, as big events in both Didsbury and Chorlton shape up to entertain expected record crowds.

It's that time of year again and the Didsbury Rotary Music Festival Party in the Park and the annual Beech Road Festival this year promise more than ever before.

From the usual suspects of face-painting and food stalls to more unusual events like climbing walls and a performance from the River Niger Orchestra, you'd be pretty hard pressed to find nothing of interest.

The Rotary's second Party in the Park last year welcomed around 5,000 visitors and this year's will see live music in the bars, restaurants and Emmanuel Hall, culminating in a Didsbury park party on Sunday June 26.

All the money raised by the events is going to Rotary supported charities including St. Ann's Hospice, Make a Wish Foundation and Royal School for the Deaf, Manchester.

It is a FREE family event with music, food and fun! There will also be a raffle, with tickets just £1 for the chance to win a car.

Preparations are also being finalised for the eighth Beech Road Summer Festival. The 2005 Festival will take place on Sunday, June 26 from noon onwards.

The popular fundraising day, run by the Beech Road Association of Traders, has this year attracted an instructor in reiki and Indian head massage, as well as street dance sessions and children's safe play area.

Attractions will include live music from local bands all day, rides and stalls, a balloon race, a tombola and all the weird and wonderful offerings from the traders along Beech Road.
