Dad’s grief over brutal killing of children

19/ 7/2007

THE grieving father of Kesha and Fred Wizzart has spoken of his deep gratitude to the hundreds of people who have rallied around the tragic family.

The 38-year-old has been inundated with messages of support since his teenage children and their mother, nurse Beverley Samuels, were found dead at their Manchester home.

Fred Wizzart sent out the message of thanks on the day he should have been celebrating his son's 14th birthday.

Fred jnr - known in the family as Baby Fred - died along with Beverley and 18-year-old Kesha at their home in Thelwall Avenue, Fallowfield.

The family has chosen Fred's birthday to launch an appeal to create a memorial in tribute to the much-loved victims. And they have released, exclusively through the Reporter's website, footage of talented Kesha's stage debut at the age of 13 - as Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. Her performance drew thunderous applause from the audience at her old school, Trinity in Hulme. ( See below to watch the footage )

Kesha's astonishing singing talent won her a place on the hit ITV1 show Young Stars In Their Eyes in 2004.

Yet despite her obvious musical ability the bright teenager set her heart on becoming a lawyer.

She was waiting for her A Level results after finishing at Parrs Wood Sixth Form College in Didsbury and had been offered a place at Manchester University to study law.

Mr Wizzart had separated from Beverley many years ago but remained close to the children, who stayed regularly with him at his home.

He has been left devastated by the tragedy but has spoken of the strength he has drawn from the avalanche of support. "The last week has been like a living nightmare. But the messages I have received from people who knew Kesha, Fred and Beverley have helped me enormously.

"And, for that, I am deeply grateful.

"I loved my children very much and I know what truly wonderful people they were.

"But now I also know what a difference they made to so many other people's lives too.

"Messages are pouring in with people saying how special they were and in these early days it has gone some way to help us all through a horrendous time."

Mr Wizzart said many people had told him they wanted to do something to remember the three victims.

He is asking people to leave suggestions on our website.

They could include a garden or play area being built or even a new charity being set up to combat violence. Some of the donations may be used to help with funeral costs.

"So many people have ideas on how to remember them and we will take our lead from them. Right now it is difficult to make any decisions," he said.

i was so upset to hear about the tragic deaths of kesha and her family. i have just left parrs wood high school and i used to see kesha about and she always seemed like such a lovely girl. i heard about her dad planning to do some kind of a memorial and i think it would be a brilliant idea to hold a music event of some sort considering kesha herself was so passionate about music and she had a wonderful voice.
