South Manchester Reporter, Thursday 18 September 2008FREEDOM of thought, movement and information seem to be eroding faster and faster nowadays as our governments, of whatever political hue, screw us ever deeper into the ground in a welter of bureaucratic laws designed to keep us subservient to the natural law that if prices go up the rich are not affected but the poor suffer to a much greater extent in proportion to the rulers of our land. And what can we do about it? Nothing!

South Manchester Reporter, Thursday 4 September 2008I'M REMINDED of a story by a French guy called Alexander Dumas (well he'd hardly be from Wigan with a name like that, would he?) called 'The Man in the Iron Mask'.

South Manchester Reporter, Thursday 21 August 2008EVERY radio station, TV channel and newspaper has reported nothing but wall-to-wall coverage of the Olympic Games recently and I'm sick of it. South Manchester Reporter, Thursday 14 August 2008WE'Re awash with ABBA mania at the moment. Their records are being re-issued. A blockbuster film is raking it in - 'Mama Mia' - and all is well with the ABBA money making machine. Makes you want to walk the streets singing the immortal words: "Monet, Monet, Monet. Must be funny. In the rich man's world. Monet, Monet, Monet. Always sunny. In the rich man's world."

South Manchester Reporter, Thursday 7 August 2008LET’S start this week with a question. What is it that big boys DON’T do?
18. James Chapman-Kelly - July 31 2008
South Manchester Reporter, Thursday 31 July 2008THEY reckoned the shouting and screaming could be heard for miles, so imagine what it sounded like to me as I heard the distraught shrieks of a weepy female resonating between the houses around the back gardens. "Pussy, pussy! Oh my God. Help me. Somebody please help."
19. James Chapman-Kelly - July 24 2008
South Manchester Reporter, Thursday 24 July 2008I'VE got a bee in my bonnet and it’s got to come out! Our rulers have come up with a new way to get everybody back into work. Seems that anybody who has been signed off as being incapable of work will soon be made to earn their keep because the rulers (of whatever political colour) will find work for them under the assumption that everybody is capable of something.
20. James Chapman-Kelly - July 17 2008
South Manchester Reporter, Thursday 17 July 2008MANY years ago I was in a bar in downtown Marseilles in the south of France. In those days parts of Marseilles were places of lawlessness, danger and excitement.
