South Manchester Reporter, Thursday 28 December 2006STANDING at my photographic exhibition in Habitat, watching customers during their pre-Christmas shopping bonanza in their quest for that emergency feather bauble, has proved a fascinating anthropological experience.

I receive such calls on average about once a week.
8. November 16 2006
South Manchester Reporter, Thursday 16 November 2006THE hoodies and scallies of south Manchester have just received an important concession from our esteemed leaders, as a recent decision means that, if you take drugs, commit a crime, get caught and thrown into a comfortable police-cell, you can sue the government for not giving you drugs whilst in prison!
9. November 2 2006
South Manchester Reporter, Thursday 2 November 2006WHEN I first discovered Stella Artois lager in Spain in the sixties I thought it tasted OK. Years later came their advertising campaign based on the slogan 'Reassuringly expensive'.

South Manchester Reporter, Thursday 2 November 2006UP UNTIL this week, my favourite eavesdropping at Didsbury Post Office had been the elderly foreign woman who had asked the price of sending a package abroad, and who, on hearing the reply, had asked if there was a cheaper way. "Well, you can send it by sea-mail - that would be £8.54." "Very good, very good," said the woman. "And is there anything slower than a boat?"
