Swinton Moorside 226-8, Whalley Range 193-7 - DESPITE missing several top players, Whalley Range put in a commendable effort at Swinton Moorside.

The home team batted with purpose to set a stiff target of 226-8 with Paul Davies again being the pick of the Range attack with 4-46, with assistance from Niraj Vasani (2-69).

Neil Cusick led the Range reply with a fine 59 before a needless run-out which affected the Range run rate.

Mike Sutherland (23) and Aftab Younis (21) kept up the good work but in the end it was too much with Range left to bat out time on 193-7.

Whalley Range seconds, with top players on first team duty, found life hard at Kingsbrook Road against Bolton Indians.

The visitors scored well to leave Range 184-5 to beat for victory.

C Gerrard (2-75) and Mark Greenwood (2-57) were the top bowlers for Range.

The Range reply was soon in disarray as they were 6-3, 45-4 and 56-5 leaving survival as their only option.

Alan Mellor (35), Mo Patel (16) and Hasan (11) mounted a recovery but it was ended on 122.
