ANOTHER fine effort from Didsbury CC saw them still in pole position in division one of the Cheshire County Cricket League.
They managed to restrict Birkenhead Park to 179-8 thanks to Pete Manser’s 5-45 and Paul Sperring’s 2-35.
With only 45 overs to reach their target, Didsbury paced their reply well with Nick Anderson (33), Stuart Stoneman and Marcus Fisher (26 each) getting them on their way.
It was left to Sperring to take his team over the finishing line with an unbeaten 53 as Didsbury ended on 180-4.
Didsbury’s seconds were left hanging on as they entertained Nantwich at Wilmslow Road.
Having reduced their visitors to 44-4, Didsbury then saw Nantwich recover to 206-8 despite Rob Ifsted’s 3-27.
Trevor Gane (53) gave Didsbury a good foundation in reply before a batting collapse left them on 120-8.
Nigel Bellamy (36 not out) and Dave Ashworth (17) then took them to 169, the latter stumped off the final ball.
