GREGORIANS remained top of the Manchester Football League Premier Division after another tense victory against lowly opposition.

With Breightmet United second-bottom of the table, Gregs were pushed to the limit before emerging victorious by the odd goal in three.

Leon Walters proved to be their star with a clinical brace which kept Gregs nine points clear.

Gregs’ A team also beat the freeze but lost 2-1 against Stand Athletic, Chris Rooney with their consolation goal.

Wythenshawe Amateurs’ good run was ended at Hollinwood where they lost to the only goal of a tight game.

However, Ammies’ seconds continued their climb up the table with a 2-1 victory over Irlam.

In division one, Manchester Juniors had their best win of the season as they beat basement team Milton 6-0.

They had killed the game off before half-time by racing into a 4-0 lead through Alex Rowe (two), Shaun Wright and Craig Jones.

The second half saw Rowe complete his hat-trick with Ric Rowe also finding the target.

West Didsbury and Chorlton had two of their teams in action but neither gained a point.

The first team fired blanks as they lost 2-0 to Stand Athletic, while the A side scored four times against Wythenshawe Town’s reserves but conceded five at the other end.
