Easy victory

17/ 4/2008

TRAFFORD Hawks moved into second place in the Altrincham SFL Premier Division after a 9-0 hammering of Sale West United.

The win puts them seven points adrift of leaders Old Alts who also have two games in hand.

Vine Tavern were held to a 3-3 draw by Trafford FC in midweek but bounced back with a 3-1 win over Sale West United with strikes from Martin Payne (two) and Akim Williams.

Old Alts now have the title in their own hands, needing six points from their remaining five games to clinch success.

There was yet another change at the top of the congested division one table as former leaders Dane Road Central went down 4-2 to Broadway Urmston, who replaced them at the top.

With Dane Road Central having now completed their fixtures, it is now down to Pelican FC to catch the new leaders as they beat Ladybarn 2-0 and could take the title if they win the reverse fixture.

Elsewhere in the division, Sale Excel were 6-2 winners in their local derby against Sale United.
