how good it is to see some local leagues surviving particularly the LANCS & CHESHIRE which league I used to play in for NORTH WITHINGTON AFC (Now Wythenshawe Town) back in the 60s and very early 70s, the RHODES CUP brings back memories.Them days clubs such as Stoconians and Gregorians werein thelower divisions but nevertheless these clubs have stood the test of time and deserve credit for it.We had good sides to pay in the L&C 1st Division such as East Chorlton,Moss-Side Amateurs,Rusholme,Cheadle Heath Nomads,Bramhall,Cheadle Hulme,West Didsbury,Urmstonians etc Hough End,Brookburn Road,Christies playing fields,Urmston Meadows etc were pitches where spectators congregated and enjoyed the games where Hough End in particular on Saturday afternoons every pitch was taken,I remember East Chorlton before they moved toChorlton Village playing on the first pitch from the main Road alongside the od railway line with a massive green hut as their changing rooms,North Withington played on the second pitch and before the dressing rooms were built in 1960 they too had a litte hut alongside there were others who changed in old railway freight containers metal bath tubs and all.KEEP THE GOOD WORK UP LADS!
