MAINE Road secured fourth place in the Vodkat League table after coming from behind to defeat Bacup Borough 4-1 on Monday.

Knowing that three points would lift them above Colne and into fourth spot, Road were helped by champions Trafford who defeated Glossop North End 2-1.

Having gone behind, Smith levelled the scores on the half-hour before Luke Mack netted on 34 and 39 minutes to establish their two-goal lead.

Simms made sure of the points by adding Road’s fourth goal with four minutes remaining.

That win was Road’s third three-goal victory in a week after 3-0 successes against Flixton and Atherton LR.

Smith, Mason and Self netted in the midweek win at Flixton before Mack (two) and Self gave them victory against Atherton at Brantingham Road.

Gregorians are a point ahead with a game in hand at the top of the Manchester Football League Premier Division thanks to wins against Hindsford (1-0) and Springhead (2-0).

Wythenshawe Amateurs drew 0-0 at Prestwich Heys while their seconds defeated Heys 3-2, the score by which Gregorians B defeated Dukinfield Town.

In division one, West Didsbury and Chorlton drew 2-2 with Monton Amateurs while their reserves were beaten 4-0 by Prestwich Heys.
