BROUGHTON Park posted their first double of the season with a 21-14 victory at promotion-chasing Lymm.

They took the lead in the 15th minute when Ronan O’Brien kicked a penalty after Steve O’Connor was impeded.

Park were able to pen the home side into the corner, creating a try for scrum-half Steve Elliot, only for Lymm to respond with a penalty.

Five minutes before half-time, Lymm failed to find touch with a penalty, allowing O’Brien to jink forward and set the backs in motion.

The ball reached O’Connor whose scintillating break ended with the supporting Mark Poole scoring under the posts, O’Brien converting.

Lymm reduced the deficit five minutes into the second half with a try under the posts.

Park then gave away a penalty under the posts which saw Lymm bring the score to 15-11.

However, a blatant high tackle saw a home player sinbinned and Park kick the resultant penalty.

Lymm pulled three points back with a penalty of their own, but a late indiscretion saw them punished with an injury-time kick to end the scoring.
