Didsbury Toc H 11 De La Salle 14

13/ 3/2008

DIDSBURY Toc H were unable to make numerical advantage pay dividends after losing a game they wanted to win to avoid joining their visitors in a relegation dogfight.

Having started the better of the two teams, Toc H were hindered by a misfiring lineout during the first half, limiting their progress down the pitch despite De La Salle conceding numerous penalties.

It was the visitors who registered the first points in the match, scoring a try under the posts to secure a 7-0 lead, although Didsbury had reduced their deficit to one point at the break thanks to two penalties from Pete Davies.

The second half started much the same as the first with De La Salle reduced to 13 players after two of their men were sinbinned.

The resulting penalty saw Didsbury opt for a scrum, the pack driving over the line for Chris Matthews to touch down for a try and an 11-7 advantage.

However, Toc H failed to add to their tally while the two visiting players were off the pitch and were made to pay when, back at full strength, De La Salle scored their second converted try of the match to retake the lead.

Didsbury were given another opportunity when a visiting players was sent off, but they were unable to find another score despite their one-man advantage.

They now face another important game this weekend with Upper Eden the visitors to Ford Lane, kick-off 3pm.
