Title in sight

27/ 3/2008

MANCHESTER Magic moved a step nearer to winning the EBL1 title for the first time with a 104-76 win over Bristol Flyers.

Magic maintained their composure throughout, putting on a brilliant performance to clinch their 11th league win in a row and put them in a great position to claim their first league title with only two games remaining.

A 12-2 run by the home side at the end of the first half gave them a 16-point advantage which the Flyers never looked like closing.

They were led by 23 points from Steve Gayle while Stefan Gill (10) and Orlan Jackman (16) combined for 26 points off the bench as Manchester dominated their opponents early on and put the game out of reach by the end of the third quarter.

The 28-point win over the Flyers follows a 36-point away victory over West Anglia Fury, the ninth time this season that the Magic have won a league game by 20 points or more.

Victory leaves them in pole position with two games to play and a four-point advantage over Worthing Thunder.
