Albert at the summit

3/ 7/2008

WEST Didsbury’s Albert Club are on track to retain their South Manchester Tennis League ladies division one title as they prepare for the second half of the season.

However, they face fierce competition from an unbeaten Bowdon Bowling A side, the only team to have defeated Albert thus far.

Glossop Pyegrove are also in the hunt, a point behind Albert, although Darley face a fight for survival as they lie a point above the bottom two.

Whalley Range A look set to bounce back to division one following last year’s relegation thanks to victories in their opening eight division two games.

Hale Village A have a 100 per cent record from seven games while Darley B are in third place.

Division three sees Whalley Range B as the top local team, lying in third place behind Bowdon Bowling D and Heyes Grove.

Darley C currently occupy fourth spot with Manchester City and Fallowfield looking to avoid the wooden spoon which is currently in the hands of Urmston.
