CLions inflict surprise defeat

ONE of the big upsets of the Manchester Softball League season came in division three as leaders Mets AAA lost their 100 per cent record by going down 18-16 to third-placed CLions.

Clangers took full advantage of that slip as they defeated the Bees 16-15 to draw level on points with the leaders.

Greensox worked hard to retain their 100 per cent record in division one before beating Camels 13-12.

Second-placed Mavericks had to work equally hard to stay two points adrift of Greensox thanks to a 14-13 win over Lions.

A low scoring game saw Dodgers win 5-4 against Speeders.

The bottom three teams in division one and the top three in division two were in play-off action and the winners on the night were More Lions, Mutineers and Mets.

Results

Division one: Camels 12, Greensox 13; Mavericks 14, Lions 13; Speeders 4, Dodgers 5.

Play-off division: More Lions 16, Thunder 10; Mutineers 16, Phoenix 14; Mets 10, Outlaws 17.

Division two: Bats 25, Hackers 19; Piranhas 3, Runners 22.

Division three: Bees 15, Clangers 16; Aarvarx 13, Titans 9; Vipers 13, OutlawsII 20; Clions 18, Mets AAA 16.
