Relegation fears remain

22/12/2003

Oldham 23
Broughton Park 9

BROUGHTON Park stay rooted to the foot of their division after a strong second-half display from the home team saw newly promoted Oldham to a comfortable win.

There was little between the teams in the first half and Oldham just held on to a 10-9 lead.

Three penalties from Pete Oakes kept Park in touch after a try from Dave Worrall was converted by Brian Quinlan, who also added a penalty. But Oldham dominated the second half and as Park were unable to add to their tally, the game went out their grasp.

Winger Marlon Miller went over twice and Quinlan added another penalty to seal a win which keeps Oldham challenging at the top end of the league table.

  • IN junior football, Dynamo Didsbury drew 1-1 with Hale Barns A.

The conditions were difficult, with wind and rain causing problems for both teams.

A goal from Harry Buss and some great saves from goalkeeper Jonathan Clowes kept the Didsbury side in the game.
